Our tomatoes are growing, but the chickens ATE every leaf off the pepper plants til there was nothing left but sticks! I was not very happy with those ladies!!
Everything else is growing and changing and blooming and sprouting. Our birdhouse even has a tenant this year!! Last year, the only thing that moved in to that thing was WASPS! Awww, so it makes me want to go out and leave some dryer lint closeby so she can find it to build a soft little nest. I'm not sure about the other one, but the tall one is the one that's occupied. It almost seems too tall or long and narrow for a bird to live in, but she flew out when I passed by.... so if she hasn't already moved in, then she's at least considering it. I'll have to sit a ways back and watch to see if I can see her going in and out.
You know I had to go for some dryer lint - and all the pieces of thread from the little trash can I keep by my sewing machine for thread. I hope she uses it. I thought I would tie it up in a tree nearby, but since they saw me and flew away anyway, I decided to put it right on the birdhouse.
If you look close, you'll see a strip of flannel... from the pajamas I made Einstein!
This Louisiana iris is such an aggressive grower we regret ever putting it in the flower beds. We have them planted out around the yard in different places and we don't mind them multiplying there, but they completely take over flowerbeds and smother everything else.
The fig tree already has little figs! When I look at or stand next to a fig tree, I am amazed to think that Jesus ate figs. And Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves, too after they ate of the forbidden fruit and became ashamed. The bible is full of references to figs. That amazes me to think I have a fig tree (several actually) growing in my back yard.
Believe it or not: Byron had a bunch of warts on his hands for YEARS (I thought he'd outgrow them, but he never did) that we tried everything to get rid of... nothing worked.... UNTIL we found a home remedy that said to break off a fig leaf and apply the white milk onto the wart. I wish I had pictures of his big, ugly warts and in a matter of two weeks those things were completely gone!!! We started to see results in DAYS!!! He'd go out and put some on once a day, twice a day sometimes, sometimes he'd skip a day.... and still those things came right off. Talk about AMAZING!! If I had known it would actually work, I would've documented it... I didn't believe.... but I DO NOW!!! No scarring, no side effects and FREE!!!! After all that money we spent on Dr. Scholl's wart removing medicine!! I didn't take him to the doctor cause my sister-in-law told me that it hurt real bad to freeze them and it was worse the closer to the nail it was. Well, Byron's were on his cuticle, growing over his nail! Being a wimp myself, I didn't want to put Byron through that... plus, I read he would outgrow them. But wow, the answer is as simple as fig leaf milk!!

Paper White Daffodil
Grapefruit loaded with buds... can't wait to see how many grapefruit we get!
The weather was so beautiful yesterday I thought we'd grill some sishkabobs, but we didn't have the right ingredients - so Byron came up with a better plan. He took over the cooking and invented a chicken with veggies sauteed with crushed pineapple dish. We served it over a bed of brown rice and fresh chopped spinach. Delish! Byron likes to cook... actually, all of my kids do! Even Ned likes to cook!!

We topped it off with our favorite drink... mmm, a glass of ice-cold sweet tea, complete with lemon and a fresh sprig of mint. Doesn't get any better than that!!
