Shish Kebabs, Sheesh! Kabobs!!!

It's been SUPER HOT here lately... I even got an emergency email warning of potentially dangerous heat. Can you imagine? We worked outside for a little while this morning... Ned had sweat dripping off his elbows! I don't like to sweat so I mostly sat in front of the fan doing only what had to be done to help Ned.... which was enough to work up a sweat, but not dehydrate! Here's a portion of the email I got:

THE NATL WEATHER SVC IN LAKE CHARLES HAS ISSUED A HEATADVISORY.WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING.HIGH TEMPS HAVE CLIMBED TO NEAR OR ABOVE 100 DEGREES ACROSSMANY LOCATIONS IN CNTL & S. LOUISIANA. COMBINED WITHHIGH HUMIDITY VALUES.THIS HAS RESULTED IN HEAT INDEX VALUES ATOR ABOVE 108 DEGREES.

They left later to run errands and I was glad to have some time to myself to do some internet research and make some phone calls.... and stay cool indoors.

Byron's four-wheeler has been in the shop, but since they picked it up today, they decided to go riding for a while before supper.... which is the only reason I have the time to sit and post this!

We all sat and prepared these kebabs to throw on the grill a little later. I guess I'm still used to cooking for my kiddos... cause this is only the BEEF kabobs... we only made these to use up the little bit of tenderloin pieces Byron cut off the tenderloin he made the other night. They picked up some shrimp while they were out today and we really only intended on having shrimp kabobs. These are going straight into the fridge to grill tomorrow.

These shrimp kabobs have basically the same stuff as the beef ones... fresh corn (pre-cooked and leftover from another meal also), bell pepper, garlic, grape tomatoes, zuchinni and Baby Bella mushrooms (same name I call my niece Hope Isabella!)
Since my gang is all grown up and gone, I wish I could at least have my brother's kids here. I miss those guys (and gal) TREMENDOUSLY. They might would prefer grilled hotdogs to bell pepper and zuchinni, but I love doing whatever it is to please them. Which really isn't hard to do... they're very easy to please. I'd love to be swimming and splashing around with them in the pool right now! Oh well, hopefully sometime this summer!

Kabobs are the way to go... everything on one stick and didn't take long to cook at all!!

They turned out Deeelish! Oh and Krys came over to eat... just in case you're wondering if we ate all of that by ourselves!!

Byron and Ned took turns shooting leaves off the tree. Country boys are so easily entertained!!

Krystina's dog - Gemma Paige - if you think it's crazy for Einstein to think he's a baby, you should try baby-talking Gemma and see if she doesn't crawl right up in your lap to cuddle. What a dog!!!!
